Gary's Story
"I was lost, I had no place to go. I wanted a chance, and then, coming here... I'm making myself better because I have people who believe in me."
Our organization provides specialized, LGBTQ+ affirming services that fill a critical gap in the broader network of support available locally.
In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, The LGBT Center of Greater Reading provided support, community, and critical services to thousands of neighbors across Berks and Lebanon counties.
Listen to these stories from real clients, visitors, and staff members here at The Center.

"As soon as I walked in here, they accepted me for who I was immediately. It was one of the best feelings I've ever had."

"Being here at The Center is the first time I've never had to mask my Autism... This place is very accepting of people like us."
"I keep coming back for the deep sense of comradery I feel when I come here... It's really wonderful to come here and find people who are here to celebrate each other and be themselves."
Sexual Assault Navigator
"What I love about being here is being able to hear people's stories, and seeing them leave here with a weight off their shoulders."
Executive Director
"Being a parent of a child who is Trans and seeing everything they're going through... It's important we let people know we see them and support them so they can be successful."
"I'm someone who came out later in life... This is a place where anyone can sort out who they are at any stage of life."
Our services are needed by our community now more than ever, and YOU can guarantee that The LGBT Center's impact lasts!
Our Pride Partners are monthly donors who receive benefits for their generous monthly gifts: your name on our donor wall, free event tickets, VIP seating at major events, collectors editions of our Annual Pride Tags, and more! Visit our donations page to learn more.
Our volunteers are the backbone of our programs. Help facilitate support, social, and arts groups; attend Community Outreach events; serve food during our Food Pantry and monthly soup kitchen; prepare events at the Center; and more. Become a volunteer today!
Circle of Care is a therapeutic scholarship for our Counseling clients that pays for 6 weekly therapy sessions, so LGBTQ+ individuals facing financial and mental health struggles can get the help they need. Nobody should fight their mental health battle alone. To sponsor the scholarship, email Laura Biancone.
Whether you volunteer your time, make a donation, or spread the word, your support helps us create a more inclusive and welcoming community for everyone.
